The BCF Team

Ric Stewart

Executive Director

Ric Stewart – writer, award-winning filmmaker and radio host – is founder of BCF; professor at Tulane University and D.J. Maraca on WTUL.

When Blues Hall of Famer Joe Louis Walker implored “Ric, you gotta save the blues, man, you’re young enough” in 2003, Stewart already had an impressive 17-year history as a storytelling roots music DJ, Internet media pioneer; and digital producer for Apple, Adobe and Ascend.

Dwayne Breashears

Radio Director

Dwayne served as Program Director of New Orleans roots music station WWOZ for 18 years. He also produced remote broadcasts from French Quarter Festival, the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and the Apollo Theater in Harlem.

His knowledge of local DJ's, content archives and artists adds booking and production capacities to the Blues Center.

Kerry Brown

Music Director

New Orleans native jazz and blues drummer, pianist and festival producer and event booker. Kerry has played with B.B., Freddie and Albert King, Jack Dupree, Bobby Rush, Mason Ruffner and Buddy Guy.

Kerry's playing can be heard these days with Preservation Hall, Storyville Stompers and country outlaw David Allan Coe.
